ACM Composite Bearings UK

Through partnership with ACM Composite bearings, HSA offers all class approved composite bearings which are available in different configurations such at Shell Bearings, Pametrada Bearings, Stave and Tube bearings, ACM Composite materials are well proven in the market and offer lower wear rates and longer life in comparison to traditional bearing materials.

ACM materials carry approvals from classification societies such as ABS, BV, CCS, DNVGL, GL, LR, NK making them suitable for use in many defence and commercial applications.

L2 Marine
L2 Marine material exclusively available from ACM Composite Bearings is the result of an extensive rudder bearing R&D programme and was initially launched into the marine market in 2001. It has since been installed and successfully operated on over 2,000 vessels, both new and repair, on various shaft sizes up to 1.25 metres diameter. The material was developed to give improved performance, longer life, a very competitive price and to have the capability of operating under nonlubricated conditions, offering a maintenance free ‘Fit and Forget Bearing Solution’

Marine Water Lubricated Propeller Shaft Bearings

L2 Marine has been tested for stern tube bearing applications and has been proven to offer superior performance in terms of wear, extended life and low shaft wear over other water lubricated propeller shaft bearing materials. The material is available as finish machined bearings or in billet form for final machining in the ship yard. The excellent bearing performance of L2 Marine coupled with its superior physical characteristics offers shipyards and ship owners operating in harsh conditions many advantages.

Rudder Bearings

Due to its excellent bearing characteristics L2 Marine is the only single synthetic composite material available that has classification approval for both lubricated and dry operation, making it the ideal rudder bearing material. Other applications include; deck machinery equipment, offshore mooring systems, steering gear, stern roller bearings, water tight door bearings and many more.

Container Vessel Support Pads

Due to the continuing and common problems associated with the currently used support pad materials ACM Composite Bearings has, in conjunction with a number of major ship owners and fleet managers, developed a new type of plastic material that satisfies all requirements of this very arduous application. This newly developed material because of its excellent bearing characteristics coupled with its high load capability has been successfully trialled on a number of vessels resulting in reduced maintenance and zero down time. Consequently ACM Composite Bearings is now supplying container vessel support pads to major ship owners and fleet managers worldwide. The use of the ACM TriboSlide material also prevents marine growth, cathodic chalking and bi-metallic corrosion making it the ideal solution for this application.

The competitive price of the ACM TriboSlide material offers the ship owner/fleet manager considerable reduction in costs for both new build and repair over conventional bronze/bronze graphite pads. A further cost advantage is that the ACM pads have no after sales value hence total elimination of theft during loading and unloading of the containers is achieved. In addition it has been proven that the wear of the ACM TriboSlide material is considerably less than the conventional bronze/bronze graphite support pads hence longer life is achieved – a further cost reduction. Also, because of the higher load capability of the ACM TriboSlide material when compared to bronze, spreading under load does not occur hence the removal of the pads for inspection/replacement is less time consuming resulting in a further cost reduction.
