At HSA, we're deeply committed to our environmental responsibilities and are continuously seeking innovative ways to make a positive impact. Over the past several months, we’ve implemented a range of new initiatives aimed at reducing waste and enhancing our recycling efforts. From launching a comprehensive waste management program to incorporating more sustainable materials in our operations, every step we take is focused on minimizing our environmental footprint. We’ve also introduced resources for our team, fostering a culture of sustainability within the company. Our journey towards a greener future is ongoing, and we continue to explore new opportunities to make a difference.
Making a Switch to Oxobiodegradable Bags
When it comes to plastic, we’ve started replacing our most-used snap lock bags with oxobiodegradable ones. These bags break down faster in landfill, which is better for the planet. And we’re not stopping there—once we use up the remaining stock of our other plastic bag sizes, we’ll switch those over to oxobiodegradable as well. It’s all about making smarter choices for the environment.
Expanding What We Can Recycle
Recycling is a big part of our waste reduction plan, so we’ve made a move from paper-only recycling to commingled recycling in most of our branches. This means we can recycle a wider range of materials, keeping even more waste out of landfills.
Ditching Paper Cups for Reusable bottles
We noticed how many paper cups we were going through and knew we could do better. So, we decided to give everyone reusable drink bottles. It's a small change, but it’s making a big difference in reducing the trash we produce—and it’s encouraging everyone to think a bit more about sustainability in their daily routines.
Getting on Board with Return and Earn
We also want to keep as many plastic bottles and cans out of the landfill as possible, so we’re pushing our team to get involved in return and earn programs. It’s a simple way to make sure these materials are recycled and given a second life, rather than ending up in the trash.
Finding New Ways to Recycle
Finally, we’re exploring options to recycle the offcuts of polyurethane, rubber, and nylon from our CNC machining processes. We’re committed to finding ways to repurpose or recycle these materials, so they don’t go to waste.
